Each week there are 10 weekly spelling words. There is a test at the end of the week which also includes a dictated sentence. The dictated sentence will include review words from past spelling lists and words where a learned phonics skill must be applied. For example, after learning the -ig chunk, a sentence may include "wig" although it was not on a spelling list. Students are learning to use a word they know (such as big) to spell a word they may not know (like wig).
